At Mission Alive we are excited to introduce the Mission Alive Newsletter. This is a switch from our previous blog platform to the Substack platform. We have made this transition because we believe the Substack platform will allow us to reach a bigger audience as we continue thinking about missional church planting and leadership in the North American context.
As stated on the Mission Alive website, “Mission Alive equips leaders to develop innovative communities of faith focused on transforming marginalized communities.” In other words, the commitment of Mission Alive remains the same. This newsletter, under the direction of K. Rex Butts, will continue our commitment to providing helpful articles on missional church and church planting.
Besides this newsletter. Mission Alive has two other media platforms:
Our monthly webinar is called Innovative Church Conversations, hosted by Tod Vogt (Director of Mission Alive).
A podcast called Discipleship Conversations. hosted by Steven Carrizal and Jeremey Hoover.
Each platform has its own unique way of exploring the breadth of topics involved in missional church, church planting, leadership, discipleship, and the future of the church in North America.
Let me share a little more about the leadership team that oversees Mission Alive Media. Tod Vogt serves as the Director of Mission Alive in Dallas, Texas, and where he also serves as a Shepherd with the Greenville Oaks Church of Christ in the Dallas suburb of Allen. In addition, Tod has previously served as a missionary in Africa and as a minister among a couple of Churches of Christ. Steven Carrizal serves as Associate Minister for the Alta Mesa Church of Christ in Ft. Worth, Texas. In addition to his ministry at the Alta Mesa church, Steven is a coach and an associate with Hope Network Ministries. Jeremy Hoover serves as a Mission Alive church planter in Sarnia, Ontario where he is the planter of Love First Church. Jeremy originally launched the Discipleship Conversations podcast. K. Rex Butts serves as the Lead Minister with the Newark Church of Christ in Newark, Delaware. In addition to his ministry, Rex is an author
and serves on the board of Reflect Campus Missions. Our hope is that this Mission Alive Newsletter blog will serve as a valuable resource to you and your church, as you seek to join God in what he is doing to bring about the holistic restoration of every soul and every community. Our goal is to provide you, the well-trained ministry practitioner, with high-quality, theologically robust articles that are at the same time enormously practical and inspiring.
We at Mission Alive believe that the cultural tables have been turned over. While tried and true ministry methods may continue to gather the already Christian, introducing our unbelieving neighbors to Christ and helping them grow in Christ will take more creative and innovative methods. That means no one is truly an expert. We are all experimenting. Our goal is to bring you the result of many experiments from many missional trailblazers. Please subscribe and join this journey with us.
